We are all familiar with hormones: growth hormones, insulin, adrenal hormones (cortisol from the cortex, epinephrine and norepinephrine from the medulla) sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, pregnenolone), thyroid hormones, etc. Testosterone and thyroid hormones are usually tested through blood samples. Cortisol and female sex hormones through saliva tests and epinephrine and norepinephrine through urine samples.
Medical history, family history and physical examination will determine which tests are needed.
